General Information About 4th Grade

Birthdays:   Birthdays are always fun and a reason to celebrate.  If you are going to provide lunch, please notify me two days in advance, so that I can notify the cafeteria staff.  Cookies, cakes, and cupcakes are always welcome, but please provide forks and plates, as I do not have these items available all the time.

Book Orders:  I order from Troll Book Club every other month starting in October.  We will be having the St. James Book Fair the end of August.

Dress Code:  Please study the handbook carefully regarding the St. James dress code.  Important reminders:

   1.    Fake Nails are not appropriate at school.

   2.    Nail polish is best left for weekends and family gatherings.

   3.    Dangling earrings and other jewelry can be a safety hazard during recess and PE.  Christian jewelry only PLEASE.

   4.    Please watch the length of your child's shorts and skirts.  Appropriate length is at the bottom of the fingertips when the arms are down by the child's side.

   5.    Belts must be worn if belt loops are evident.

   6.    Make-up is most appropriate at home, special occasions, or family gatherings, but not at school please.

      Field Trips:

Newsletters:  A school newsletter and a classroom newsletter will go out in the Friday packet every week.  Please read both newsletters so that you can keep abreast of school and classroom activities.

Report Cards:  St. James is on a nine week grading period, which means report cards are distributed 4 times a year.  Official progress reports also go out 4 times a year, 4 1/2 weeks before the report cards are distributed.  I, as a classroom teacher, also send out weekly progress reports when needed, so you will know if your child is turning work in on time, if he/she is participating in the Accelerated Reader Program, if he/she needs help in certain areas, and if the child is behaving in his/her classes.

4th Grade Masses:     All 4th grade Masses will be followed by a short social in the classroom with treats and fellowship.  For those who need to plan ahead, here is our schedule.

Book Club:    We meet 4 times a year to discuss and savor BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!  Parents are always invited to join us!   Here is the schedule for Book Club:
