Bequest through your Will

A will is a carefully planned and drafted document that can preserve a maximum amount of an estate for your survivors or any organization you wish to benefit. A will is a technical document that should be written by your attorney. Your will can be revised and updated whenever your wishes or circumstances change.

A will is one of the more common means of making a charitable gift. Your gift through your will is a gift that keeps on giving forever in your name. Through your will, you are able to make bequests to the Catholic Schools Endowment Fund and the Designated Schools Endowment Fund.

Benefits of Wills & Bequests

  • Way to provide for the future financial needs of the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio
  • A bequest can state a specific amount or identify a specific asset.

Memorial & Honorary Gifts

The loss of a loved one or a special event in one's life may provide an opportunity to make one of the most meaningful types of gifts to the St. James Catholic School Endowment Fund. Memorial and Honorary Gifts may be of any size.

Memorial Gifts
Upon the loss of a love one, some families prefer to have gifts directed to charitable organizations instead of flowers. Catholic Schools Development Office gratefully receives such gifts in memory of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends of Catholic school education. Those in charge of arrangements and newspaper notification should be advised that memorial gifts may be sent to:

St. James Catholic School
507 S. Camp St.
Seguin, TX 78155
830-379-2878

Gifts can be of any size. The Catholic Schools Office of Development will acknowledge donors and the family of the deceased will be notified of all gifts made on their behalf by mail and be posted on the St. James Web Page.

Honorary Gifts
Special anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, and class reunions are times when family and friends of Catholic School Education may choose to direct charitable gifts to the St. James Catholic School Endowment Fund. Such a gift made in honor of a family member or friend who has a strong belief in Catholic school education can be a meaningful way to give a gift that keeps on giving forever in their name.

Gifts can be of any size. The Catholic Schools Office of Development will acknowledge donors and individuals being honored will be notified of all gifts made in their honor by mail and be posted on the St. James Web Page.

Life Income Gifts

A Life Income Gift is among the most flexible and beneficial options for creating or contributing to an endowment of Catholic school education. There are various life income gifts. Using this investment method, you will provide continuous income for yourself and your heirs, avoid significant capital gains and estate taxes, and display tremendous stewardship to Catholic school education.

You may establish a life income gift using assets, such as real estate, stock or cash. Funding with appreciated long-term property enables you to protect your profit or reinvest for a higher yield, while avoiding capital gains taxes. You are able to maximize the value and benefit of the property as an income and as a gift
